9.5: strange behavior with Active Layer commands

since the 9.5 upgrade, my key command for Toggle Show Active Layer Only has quit working. i've tried setting a different binding, same result. two other strange things: if i look at the drop down mini-menu in the SE when i press my key, the item directly below Show Active Layer Only ("Clear Default Patch") becomes highlighted. (this command has no key binding assignment possibilities in the Commands window.) not only that, but when i manually switch on Show Active Layer Only, and begin editing in the SE, my cursor occasionally grabs a value from an invisible layer and edits it and causes that layer to become the active layer.
