Just had a weird one with a three chunk session.
Working with three songs.
Each had various instantiations of KontaKt 5 (latest version)
Keyscape on one.
All was well and I was switching back and forth.
Out of the blue, switching to another chunk just gave the beach ball.
I had to force quit and reload.
The saved chunk came back fine, but trying to switch to the other chunks resulted in the spinning beach ball.
No way I could access them.
I openend a new project and was able to load the missing two.
A major sigh of relief!
First time in a long time that DP has scared me.

Re: Weird Beachball with Kontakt 5
I`ve had an issue similar to that. It`d get the beachball going forever until it would finally open. If I recall trashed the DP preferences and the problem got fixed. Do a backup of your pref and try a clean one
