828 mk2 usb crashes at random with new system!!

I got a anoying problem with my motu mk2 usb 2,0 . I bought the piece off hardware back in 2006 an I newer had any real problem with my unit, until a week ago when I bought a brand new computer. All of a sudden after installation, my soundcard crashes at random. It has never done this before. it makes some kind of squeaky sound and everything is dead. I have to reboot my computer to get things going again. Its only crashing when I playback something in either my DAW (Cubase 7.5 64bit) or in windows media player. If my computer isn’t processing any sound it wount crash. I have updated everything I can think off, all drivers to pretty much anything on my computer. I also tried 4 or 5 different drivers for my mkii.I have also updated all of the different devices in device manager and everything look fine, except for one pci device (it has to do with some“simple communication") but I cant updates that device.

Have someone got any clue what this problem could be, or is my unit just got broken at the exact same time I got a hole new system (I doubt it). Im running on windows 8.1 64bit with all the important updates from windows update.

I searched different forums regarding my specific problem, but can’t find anything about that. My guess is that it got something to do with the driver not being able to work correct. I wrote a mail to motu and still waiting answer.

You can register this at MOTU.com, create a user account and then post a Tech Link in Support.

First, try a factory default reset as specified in the manual.

It doesn't sound like a hardware issue to me.

Well, it's not acting like a hardware issue but these were discontinued at the end of 2006 so anything is possible after eight years.

Creating a Tech Link in Support is still your best bet.
