I only get the splash screen if I double click on the DP project file for a particular song/music piece, but not when I open the DP app. Do you get the splash screen when you double click on the song file?

Well it looks like 9.12 has fixed some of the issues that MOTU promised, but there's still work to be done. If they fixed your most pressing issues, you'll be happy and if they didn't you'll be frustrated and have to wait and see what happens in the next update. With that said, however, I've played around with this version enough now to see that for the work I do, 9.12 will do the job and I'll be installing it on my main boot drive today. So sorry for the folks that are still waiting. Keep the faith dudes and dudettes. 8)

And 9.02 does seem to work great for everyone for most things. This whole 9.1 thing is a free update we're talking about after all.

They are working on giving us some cool stuff for free, so it's definitely worth considering that when discussing any 9.1.x woes.

I've had some problems along these lines but it seems to be fixed with careful selection of buffer size. In the past if things were getting glitchy I'd just up the buffer setting, but with this version it seems you have to find the buffer sweet spot for your system. Too low OR too high seems to cause problems. :?
Right now I'm finding that 512 or 1024 is working flawlessly for the projects I've tried. Above or below that causes problems.

EXACTLY! A reproducible bug. Off to the Bug mobile!

I always get a splash screen. Could it be a preference somewhere?

Could someone who has installed it confirm if the ability to turn off pre-gen is back as an preference/option?

This is the most important thing for me (all these VI's!), and I'll just stick with 9.02 if they have not fixed this.

Thanks!

When I start up, it flashes like a single frame of video—blink and I miss it. The exception is when I have a VI or plug to verify, then it stays up long enough to see it.

Well then, Mike, all you need do is blink and pretend it's there. That'll be my workaround. I've already reported it to MOTU. Still, it's important to go public with this kind of stuff. DP has something for everybody and somebody is always looking for bugs.

As far as I can tell this hasn't been changed back. Was there any indication that it would be? I was under the impression that this was the new norm.

Nope. Not that I can see. That was the first thing I checked.

I'm wondering if such a pref/option is even possible. The new pre-gen, low latency scheme seems baked in to the MAS on a cellular level.

I really hope not !!!!!!!!!!

DP 9.02 is the first version of DP that really worked incredibly well and TRANSPARENTLY since (don't laugh!) like 5.1 or something.

Before when it was just MIDI and no digital audio.

Every version since then has had multiple workarounds, at least for me, until 9.02.

If you are using allot of VI's and want to be able to hit a key and hear the note without latency, the pre-gen thing just does NOT work at all.

Pre-gen operation with 3rd-party plug-ins
MOTU works hard to ensure a high level of
compatibility with 3rd-party virtual instruments
and effects. There may be cases where pregeneration
may not work as expected with a given
3rd-party plug-in. These cases should be reported
to MOTU and the plug-in vendor so that
compatibility can be fully established. In the
meantime, you can run the plug-in or instrument
in real time. To force a virtual instrument track into
real-time operation, record-enable any MIDI track
that targets the instrument. To force an audio
track’s effects into real time, the track can either be
record-enabled or monitor-enabled. Alternately,
the effect can be placed on an aux track, either in a
chunk or a V-rack, with bussing used to access the
effect. Aux track effects are always rendered in realtime.
