DP 9.1 NEW BUG while punching into record
When I turn auto punch on, and perform a piano part for example:
as soon as it punches into record, playing any subsequent MIDI note or sustain pedal, triggers sustain off, and even though the sustain pedal is recorded into the track, (you can see it,) the notes are without sustain during the original performance. The sustain will start upon a second sustain on.
Making punching unusable basically. Sounds like the sustain pedal is broken. (It's not.)
No workaround yet.
Anyone else with this problem?
Does not occur in Logic. I deleted the preferences, and rescanned AU, Turned everything off and on. (This is not an issue of the sustain on being on the the wrong side of the punch.)
Thanks!

Yep, a well reported and confirmed bug. MOTU confirmed it in multiple Tech-Links. Turning off Pre-gen works for some:

Re: DP 9.1 NEW BUG Thank You DP8
THANK YOU DP8!!!!!!
DP 8 still works fine.
Now to recover my key commands.
I miss being able to go back to an earlier version of DP.
i.e. 8.01, 8.02, 8.03, 8.1, etc. You'd just go back one version.
Thanks MOTU for upgrading the program. Hope you can fix this new bug.
Not being able to auto punch properly with MIDI is very sad.

Re: DP 9.1 NEW BUG while punching into record
Hey in a couple minutes I'm back to 9.02 -
Stuck my old pref files back in and I'm Golden. (no rescan of AU.)
That was easy.

Re: DP 9.1 NEW BUG while punching into record
This could be confusing for someone. People are posting that turning off Pre-gen can be a solution, but to be clear, there are workarounds, but there is no way to "turn off" pre-gen in 9.1 as there was in 9.02.cuttime wrote:Yep, a well reported and confirmed bug. Re: DP 9.1 NEW BUG while punching into record
For clarity's sake from the DP 9.1 Read Me:
If you would like a plug-in or virtual instrument to run in real time only while its window is open (to improve level meter timing in the plug-in window for example), go to the minimenu and choose "Run Open Instances of This Plug-in in Real Time". Close the window to return to Pre-gen mode (or uncheck the menu item). This setting applies globally to all instances of that plug-in and is saved globally.
To force a virtual instrument track into real-time operation all the time (not just when its window is open), record-enable any MIDI track that targets the instrument. To force an audio track's effects into real time, the track can either be record-enabled or monitorenabled. Alternately, the effect can be placed on an aux track, either in a chunk or a vrack, with bussing used to access the effect. Aux track effects are always rendered in real-time.

From the same mini-menu you can also select "Default to real time", turning off Pregen permanently for that plug-in.
In my case, turning on or off Pregen has made no difference with regard to the controller problem.
MOTU has confirmed that the controller issue during punch IS indeed a legit bug. I was told to look for a maintenance release soon (whatever that means).

Re: DP 9.1 NEW BUG while punching into record
This is not a "NEW BUG" and should probably be included in the previous thread about this bug.
What worked for me was to turn off Event Chasing. (i.e., Setup->Event Chasing->Controllers box unchecked).
My tests involved a hardware instrument, so Pre-Gen was not a factor.
For me this issue was severe enough that I have had to go back to 9.02 for serious work and am only using 9.1 for testing purposes at this point.
Best,
Babz

Thanks for the workaround Babz. Somehow I missed that. I also, really can't work well with CC's unchased. Arghhhhhh.Babz wrote: What worked for me was to turn off Event Chasing. (i.e., Setup->Event Chasing->Controllers box unchecked).
