older .MID files

older .MID files

I have a bunch of very old PC .MID files. And I can't get them into DP 9.02. (tried import smf as seq, dragging into TO window, and LOAD command. They just dont show up. I seem to recall ages ago MOTU gave us a utility like a MIDI file converter. Was it used to change older files to something DP could read?

Any suggestions for opening these?
AMPGUI themes - Andy rocks!, 3 macs, MacPro 768GB ram, 16core OS12.7.5, DP11.32, all Waves, all SLATE,PSP, IK multimedia & Audioease plugs, all PAlliance, Softube, most all Orchestral Tools, tons of NI VI's all air Spitfire, all Audiobro, all Berlin, EW PLAY, LLizard, MachFive3, Kontakt5, Omnisphere, RMX, LASS, all Soundtoys, Lexicon AU's, melodyne and others I know am forgetting, cause I'm old...Also mucho outboard rigs, MTPs, DTP, antelope WC, and 4 control surfaces with Raven.

Are you on Mac or PC? If Mac, what happens if you try to open them in QuickTime 7.6.6?

Hey there Mike. On Macs. DP will read them if I change to all lowercase mid. Weird.

You might also try dragging to the chunks window as opposed to the TO. That usually works for me. And the lower case extension thing worked for me with audio files (can't recall if it was mp3, wav or aif).

Yea. Old issue that causes grief if you don't know to look for it.

There are a number of extension issues with old files. My fave with old files is the double a lå xxx.mid.mid etc. Most can be fixed with equal parts frustration and research.
