Naming SBs no longer auditions
It used to be that when I was naming Soundbites in the SB window, I'd option click on the name and it would play. Then I'd name it. Then I'd hit ENTER or the DOWN ARROW and it would cue the next one to be re-named-- and it would play it. It was an easy way to play all the sounds in the window. Great for editing samples.
I don't know when it changed, but that doesn't work anymore. Now I have to regular-click once to hear it, then option-click to name, then RETURN to commit name change, then repeat that cycle. Or click on a few and try to remember them and name them in small groups.
I'm in 8.07, and just moved to Yosemite. Not sure if DP 7 to 8 changed it, or OS 10.9 to 10.10.
I love it when new time savers appear but I REALLY don't like it when existing time-savers vanish.

There were many changes between 7.24 and 8. None of the functionality disappeared but accessing it often changed (not talking about 32bit Carbon plugs here). A good example is the Trim plugin.
I'd post a Tech Link and ask MOTU what happened. There may be a preference that needs to be checked to let you do it the same way or similar.
Worst case, they can confirm that you are right.

Re: Naming SBs no longer auditions
Tech Support said that the feature was probably removed in DP8, and suggested that I submitted a feature request to the suggestion box to have a preference toggle to re-enable.
I won't hold my breath-- especially for version 8! It's a pretty strong incentive to revert-- or at least have a boot volume ready with DP7 for when I'm doing a sample-edit project. Grrr.

Re: Naming SBs no longer auditions
wow, existing editing being removed is disappointing.
I'm not in front of the computer so can't confirm. Also it appears DP 9 no longer has a SB file location column?
Can anyone confirm this is the case in v9?I won't hold my breath-- especially for version 8! It's a pretty strong incentive to revert

As with other things, there don't appear to be too many people who took advantage of this feature.
However, if I am wrong, I do hope you will reach out to MOTU through their suggestion box and mention that you saw this thread, and use the feature and would like to see its return.
