8.07: Where is auto pan?
Back in the day (like the os9/3.11 days) I used to use a plug called 'autopan'. It seems to not be part of the default plug-ins now. Why is this?
Any recommendations for something similar?
Thanks.

Re: 8.07: Where is auto pan?
It's still there. Make sure the track is assigned to a stereo output (even if the track itself is mono). You can't auto-pan to a mono output.

Re: 8.07: Where is auto pan?
Thanks for the replies!
I still don't see it, however.
It's indeed a mono track being output to a stereo track.
What am I missing?
Also, am I crazy to think that, at least giving the grayed-out choice would be better than not showing it at all? How would one know what they're missing??
Nevertheless, it's not showing for me. Any other suggestions?
Thanks again!

MOTU plugins are MAS. Could it be you aren't looking in the right place? It won't show up as an AU or VST.
If you can't find it any other way, click on MOTU as the manufacturer in the Plugins list. If a stereo track, it's #6 down. If a mono track, it's #11 down. Same if you click on MAS.

Re: 8.07: Where is auto pan?
This doesn't solve your specific issue, but if you look at that list, can you see the Sonic Modulator (mono to stereo) plug-in? It can be used for auto pan, too.fgagne wrote:I still don't see it, however.

Re: 8.07: Where is auto pan?
Hmmm...no sonic modulator either.
If I type "auto pan" in the search bar nothing is returned as well.
Have I somehow messed something up during the install of DP?
I'd really like to figure this out!
Thanks.

Re: 8.07: Where is auto pan?
I'd try reinstalling DP.

If I recall, there was an "Uninstall" option in DP8 that you may want to run first.

Re: 8.07: Where is auto pan?
Nope. No uninstall in 8/9. Just run the installer—it overwrites everything except Preferences.cuttime wrote:If I recall, there was an "Uninstall" option in DP8 that you may want to run first.
Last Uninstaller was DP 7.24 and that must be run before a reinstall.
Running any DP uninstaller (5/6/7) will mess up the paths to DP's plugins requiring a reinstall of all remaining versions. Been there, done that, learned the lesson.
BTW, I have never had to delete DP Preferences to solve a problem. Likewise, deleting DP Preferences never fixed anything for me.

Re: 8.07: Where is auto pan?
Same here, BUT: I'm talking to MOTU support about a Screen Set problem. As I expected, deleting preferences and loading into a new project had no effect on the problem. The next suggestion from MOTU is to reinstall DP 9. But part of the process they want me to follow is to use a Terminal command they supplied to completely remove DP before reinstalling it. So maybe a reinstall no longer completely overwrites everything that might be causing problems.mikehalloran wrote:Nope. No uninstall in 8/9. Re: 8.07: Where is auto pan?
It's nothing more than a Script with recursive sudo rm commands for everything the DP installer writes. You'd expect the it to overwrite all the same files, but then there would be no need for the script.mikehalloran wrote:Can you share or did you have to sign an NDA?
