Is it MOTU or a mouse?

Post by remmet »

Around the same time I upgraded to DP9, my regular wireless mouse bit the dust and I replaced it with an optical mouse. Since then, I've had weird scrolling and data entry issues, as follows:

1. If I'm working in a MIDI event list window, the rows of data won't stay still; they scroll backwards a few notes to a few measures in a seemingly random way. This happens when the sequence is not playing and when all windows are set to follow the timeline.

2. Also in the MIDI event list windows, I'm having problems entering numbers (for example to specify velocity or controller values). The numbers keep changing as I type them. So if I type 120, for example, it might show up as 14 or some other - usually 2-digit - number.

I'm wondering if it's the software or my new mouse. I don't have a spare non-optical mouse available to try, so before I run out and buy one, I wanted to know if anyone else was experiencing similar issues.

Thanks.

Richard

I had a bizarre issue a few years ago with a wired mouse on my wife's machine. It had 'discovered' my neighbor's Bluetooth mouse and this caused a problem that was difficult to trace. The cursor would move on its own now and then.

Turn off Bluetooth and see if it makes a difference. Look for paired devices that you don't own or use.

You're welcome.

When it happened, drove me nuts. Although the issue was widely reported, no one had a clue.

I made three hour-long support calls to AppleCare, reinstalled OS 10.7 many times with a support tech walking me through the process (tells you how long ago that was). Although I learned many things, the problem was still there.

It was my fourth call to Apple where I found a tech who knew. Problem solved in 30 seconds and my wife could use her wired optical mouse that fit her right hand.

I'd not encountered this since. Frankly, I'm amazed that I remembered since your description didn't really match. Wired mouse but the cursor moves a little... kind of sounds familiar, sort of... Oh hell, maybe this will work.
