Using Best Service's "Engine" with DP

Post by swoodii »

Hello all,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I recently took advantage of Big Fish Audio's '2 for 1' sale on Best Service products, picking up Forest Kingdom II and Era II.

Typically, when I install/authorize new plugins on my machine, DP picks up on them upon launch - not so with these new libraries that must run in 'Engine'. Anyone out there use the Best Service 'Engine' in DP? If so, how do you load it? It's not selectable when adding an Instrument Track (as Kontakt/Miroslav Orchestra/etc are). Sadly, the libraries don't run in Kontakt.

Thanks!

I use it occasionally and I just checked it in DP9 and it works fine. Are you using both Engine and DP in 64 bit mode? Is it Engine itself or the library that won't launch? The library must be installed with the Engine "Preferences">"Libraries"> "Add Library" button.

Thanks for responding!

It's Engine itself, maybe it has to do with 64bit. I'm using DP 7.

I think that might be it. I tried launching DP in 32 bit mode and Engine 2.3.0.25 is a no-show. I think there is an older 32 bit version of Engine, but I'm not sure which version it is, and if it is still available.

Are you a psychic or a prognosticator?
Been using DP9 for a while and I'm still here to tell about it.

BTW, Engine is a very nice sampler that just doesn't get any love. It was an offshoot of YellowTools, which I believe was a really popular European sampler at one point, but I guess it lost the Kontakt wars. There were some dynamite libraries for Engine that seem to have disappeared since YellowTools was taken over by Best Service.
