MOTU 828 MK1 (orginal)
First off I am not a music person so forgive me if I do not use all the correct terms. I have an original MOTU 828. All I want to do is take several sources of audio police scanner, HF HAM radio, VHF HAM radio, 900 MHz radio and pump the audio out my computer speakers. That way I only need one set of speakers to listen to my different radios or computer. I do not have the software that came with the 828. I did DL the latest software and from the MOTU control panel I can control the 828.
So is this even possible do to with the 828?
Also if yes what other software do i need to control the volume of each channel?
Thanks Joe

Here's the manual:
http://cdn-data.motu.com/manuals/firewi ... al_Mac.pdf
The drivers and controllers including Cue Mix are available for download. Like most MOTU interfaces, it is designed so that you hook up powered speakers to the 828. It may be possible to use it as an input and your computer as the output but I've never done it.
AudioDesk is the recording software that came with the 828. Depending on your OS, you should be able to download and run AudioDesk 4 from http://www.motu.com.

Thanks for the replay however CueMix does not work with this version of the 828.
Thanks Joe

According to the manual, Cue Mix does work. One of the problems with the manual is that it assumes
OS 8.5 or 9.
There are lots of old threads on the original 828 and making it work in OS X. Use the search function and read through them. Also search MOTU.com for updated help files in support. Many have gotten it to work.

Re: MOTU 828 MK1 (orginal)
AFAICT, Cuemix is a feature available since 828mkII and Traveler, but not 828 Classic.
I own a 828 classic, actually collecting dust, but never used Cuemix with it. Only *direct hardware play thru*. That is to say only 1 no-latency-input at a time in DP, and, of course, no internal FX. Used to be great back in the days, though...

Re: MOTU 828 MK1 (orginal)
Oh. Windows. How did I miss that? I suggest reading the Windows manual:
http://cdn-data.motu.com/manuals/firewi ... al_Win.pdf
According to this manual CueMix™ Plus is built into the hardware and is mentioned 34 times.
Monitoring - How to monitor inputs?
Please refer to the documentation for the audio
application that you are using. If your application
does not support input monitoring, you will need
to use the MOTU 828’s hardware-based CueMix
Plus monitoring feature. Please see “Monitor input
— CueMix™ Plus” on page 34.
