DP9 latency compensation broken
Hi!
Did anyone noticed this?
When I record an audio track along with MIDI, the two are misaligned. The MIDI track is late.
I'm on my way to report this to MOTU.

That is not happening here, or likely anywhere... If DP9 introduced a bug if that magnitude, you would hear the protests from California to Cambridge. You must have something set wrong.

Re: DP9 latency compensation broken
I was recording MIDI drums and audio guitars all day yesterday and nothing went wrong with timing. Have you checked to see that latency compensation is on in studio settings? Is your buffer impossibly small? Is one of the timing offset settings at the wrong amount?

Sounds like the often reported "bug" created when using a large buffer with Sync Recorded MIDI to Patch Thru option enabled.
This feature is very useful, but only when using small buffers. Havoc is wreaked at large buffer settings.

Re: DP9 latency compensation broken
Damn, this must be it!
I've been using DP for more than 10 years now, and I never heard of this option.
Most of the time I use a 128 or 256 sample buffer, this time it was a 1024.
I've noticed my piano playing was a bit behind time on recent recordings, I was planning on working on my time feel. Now I understand.
In my opinion, this option should be off by default.
I'll try tomorrow, but it really sounds like the solution.
Thanks a lot!

Re: DP9 latency compensation broken
Happy to help Juan!
I concur about the default being "off", but have found that having it enabled (buffer 128) often results in a better, more-laid back feel in my recordings.
