Re: DP 9 impressions and issues thread
In going back to DP8, I must confess- I do miss the floating plugins, I got used to those real quick!

I'm now on a quest to find out how many threads I can shut down, just by posting my thoughts.

Re: DP 9 impressions and issues thread
I noticed today that any 32bit plugin that was converted to 64bit using 32Lives will crash DP9 as soon as you click on the plugin window. I tested it on my iMac as well as my MBP...which are completely independent...and they both displayed similar results...I ran the same plugins in DP8 at 64bit mode and they worked perfectly as they always did.
Bottom line...You can't run any converted 32bit plugins on the DP9 in 64bit mode~

Re: DP 9 impressions and issues thread
I concur. The way Logic users are raving about their latest (.x) upgrade, you think MOTU would've taken notice. Maybe they needed to raise cash. When I pay for a major (X.0) version upgrade, I expect (or at least "hope") to be blown away. With DP9 we got a few features (lanes) that were catch-up moves (in that case, to Logic), a few new plugs—most of which I won't use (echoing the previous post—no more guitar pedals please)—and a synth that MOTU hadn't previously cared enough about to update to 64-bit (which I won't use much, either). I'm a faithful MOTU customer (since early Performer) and love DP, but with v9, I'm officially underwhelmed.waterstrum wrote:Feels like it should be DP 8.6...
Some new features, a few bug fixes and some new problems.
Not a major upgrade.

Bug Report:
Had multiple crashes using Sequence Editor to automate Bypass and other parameters in Relayer (UVI plug-in). Reported to MOTU.
Otherwise, it's been solid so far.

Re: DP 9 impressions and issues thread
I will point out once again that DP doesn't need to catch up to Logic in any way, given that Logic mangled recorded audio. They can call it Pro and add all the features in the world, but it won't be a real DAW till it is sample accurate and stops smearing the stereo image. I tried to switch for "features"and couldn't rely on it.

That's a pretty sweeping claim. I'll guess I'll have to test this out as I have not noticed this.jacey714 wrote:Bottom line...You can't run any converted 32bit plugins on the DP9 in 64bit mode~

Re: DP 9 impressions and issues thread
I am completely unimpressed and SO glad that I didn't send MOTU $200 for this "update". It's sick that MOTU tossed this version out there with such poor beta testing which is obvious by the enormous amount of bugs.
This is 8.5 all day long and definitely not a 9.0 update. I'm so disappointed and sticking with 8 until they come out with something worth while.

Re: DP 9 impressions and issues thread
Works perfectly here. I think the indignation should be reserved for some future time when these problems are confirmed as actual DP problems.
I'm currently experiencing some pretty odd behavior with an NI Reaktor soundset called Rounds. NI has never seen this behavior, they can't reproduce it, and they're currently combing through a DP file where it clearly demonstrated the problem on my end. Running around waving my arms and screaming about a "bug" in Rounds would not only be dumb, it would be a waste of time.

So you'd be happier if they called it 8.5?csiaudio wrote:I am completely unimpressed and SO glad that I didn't send MOTU $200 for this "update". I've only been able to repeat one bug: the MIDI output menus free from time to time. It's a serious bug, but even that I could work with a save and reopen.

Amidst some bugs that really pissed me off in 9, making me complain about MOTU’s not having enough beta testers, I will say that the MIDI mute is wonderful!!

Not being able to enter a simple data point without a crash (experienced by several reporting here) is a confirmed actual problem that is, in fact, a deal breaker. $200 less and no greT live if MOTU this past week.Gravity Jim wrote: I think the indignation should be reserved for some future time when these problems are confirmed as actual DP problems.

Just because you are not yet having problems with DP9 doesn't mean you won't or that other people don't have legitimate problems with it. A lot depends on how you use DP and what you use in it.Gravity Jim wrote:Works perfectly here. Oh and as to NI and their being able to find the problem - don't count on it. I've had several go-arounds with their tech support and it's been less than stellar. Unless it's something really basic in a program like DP or ProTools they'll never find the issue (but that doesn't mean the problem isn't on their end either). Had it happen with being able to use their plugins as AudioSuite plugins in PT. AS is PT's destructive plugin format. I asked NI support about how to use their plugins as AS and all they came back with is how to use them as regular plugins on inserts in PT tracks. They knew nothing/zip/zilch/nada about AudioSuite which has been in PT for ages. BTW - what's the issue you're having with Rounds? There are some Reaktor ensembles that do have issues.
