Yeah, I remember your mentioning it a month or so ago, Jack.

Seriously, I'd be awake (and frazzled) 'till I died... with eyes wide open.

I visited a songwriter 20 years ago who was in a single-room apartment, and, like you he was very close to the thing. So close, in fact, that you'd swear you could feel the vibrations of the hum. Took me about a month to recover from that extended visit.

Oh man, that can't be good. I'd be tempted to wrap my house in a Faraday Cage.

Exactly.

Not sure how that might affect transmission were he into HAMs or CBs or something, which I think Jack might be...

That I am my friend, that I am. Going on 25 years and counting. I don't do the CB thing anymore - that was back in the 70's and early 80's.

Wish I could remember where I read it but didn't someone build a Faraday cage around their music studio?

I don't know if this has been covered elsewhere, but I spoke to Magic Dave this morning by phone. He basically said, "We are no longer printing the full (nine hundred something page) manual. The boxed version includes the printed Getting Started manual and PDF versions of both." Forgive me, Dave, if I forgot your exact words.

Based on this, I'm going with the download version. I'm sure the DP8 manual will still be an excellent reference for some time.

BTW, I've been playing with the demo for a few days now and although there are a few problems, I'm ready to dive in. I think the automation lanes is what did it for me.

I believe that would be Wendy Carlos, who by the way, seems to have fallen away from the surface of the earth.

Yeah - she's the one. Of all things I couldn't remember the name; to top it off I'd just read some history on early synths and players along with watching a YouTube video and Carlos was in the video. You're right - totally dropped off the music scene. Not only used various Moogs but also had a New England Digital Synclavier.
