ProVerb ir locations issues

Decided to give ProVerb a try; you know, something different from my usual Reverberate and Ultraverb. Got along with it pretty well until I went to add my rather large library of third party ir's. These all work okay in my other ir reverbs and I was able to drag a couple into ProVerb from a Finder window. So I figured that I'd add the rest of my ir's by putting them into the ProVerb User or Shared folder and it wouldn't work. I'd go to add them and was told the folder was damaged yet ProVerb would find the couple of ir's I put in there from the PV gui. If I quit DP and tried to open the folder that's supposed to contain the ir's put there from the PV gui a Terminal window would open up. Did this for both the User and Shared folders.

Is there no way to add a folder of ir's just by dragging them to the PV ir folder from within Finder? Or do I have to do it all through the PV gui? I've got close to a thousand ir's I'd like to use in PV.

Or is PV just not worth it?

Maybe that's just the way MOTU designed it? Maybe PV has to analyze the IR first? Usually there's some procedure that's necessary. Can you drag more than one at at time?

That's a subjective question. There are many people on this board who like ProVerb and think it's worth it, even with the factory IRs. If it's tedious to add close to a thousand third party IRs, then that's a judgement call for you.

I haven't tried to drag more than one ir at a time. As to whether this is the way MOTU designed it I don't know but I thought that maybe one of the cognoscenti here would know one way or the other. This is one of those things that drives me up a wall with DP - they leave out certain details on how to do something and assume the end user will figure it out on his or her own. They give you little teasers without explicit explanation. You know a simple little sentence like 'if you need or want to import a folder full of ir's you already have you do this, this and that'. Or that that can't be done.

I think you figured out how to do it. I just doesn't do it how you'd like it to. Maybe someone who has more experience with ProVerb can chime in?

Love Proverb and usually have it sitting on my first effects bus, but I too would like to know how to import folders of IRs.

I've had the lauded Acoustika Bricasti IRs downloaded and ready to import for a couple years but have been hoping to see this subject come up to suss out how to do it right.

Ah, the liabilities of riches! I would not want to try a thousand IRs in any app or plugin. I'm always going back and forth between the better IRs in Altiverb, and that alone can occupy hours of my time. Some rooms sound good close-up, but terrible far away; some sound the opposite. Some sound great anywhere, and some just don't. Listening to each IR at multiple distances, stereo/mono, etc. can be a burdensome process. You think you've found "the one," but then you go back to the one you've been using, and it sounds so much better than the ones you've been auditioning, so you have to ask yourself what the heck you've been doing with the past hour.

I hope you find a good one or two in that pile of a thousand! It's like digging into the pyramid of Cheops, looking for one gold brick.

I only figured out how to do it one at a time - not folders at a time. Not to be able to do the latter is lame at best and a time waster at the worst. And that is why I asked if it was even worth it to chase this or fuhgeddaboutit and use one of my other ir reverbs.

Guess I'm lost then. Thought if anyone knew how to do it it would be you. The reason I have so many is because I'm not a one-size-fits-all person; I pick what I want to fit the situation. Sometimes I need a specific feel and having to go search on a drive for the ir would make me lose that feeling. If I can just pull it from a list that's already in the reverb then more's the better. Think of it like having a number of patches in a synth ready for the picking - you just go to the menu and select and it's there. No hunting for the thing in question.

Yeah, I prefer something like Altiverb or IR1 for that reason. Well, that reason among others. But I'd be lost if I had to upload one IR at a time. I wonder if you can save the IR in a preset in ProVerb? I guess not, or we wouldn't be having this conversation.

There you go! I'm certainly not one who'd know, as I don't use ProVerb. But I do remember reading this now. Never tried it. I've got a lot of IRs now, but haven't tried them in ProVerb. Maybe I'll do that now.

You're talking about dragging a folder into the PV gui ir area right? If so then taking them out of the folder destroys the hierarchy that was set up to organize them. And there's no way to set that up in PV anyways.

But there's no way to organize them from inside PV. One only has a shared or user folder to save to and no way to create subfolders.
