Plug Ins Not Available - Need Help
I recently downloaded Bias 64 Guitar Amp Modeller. But, when I tried to load it into a VI, it is not available in the list! And then I noticed that my Amplitube 3 Plug in is not available either all of a sudden! I went to preferences to see if they were checked on that list and they were. It doesn't make any sense.
I tried to re- download Bias, but it still has the same results, and DP doesn't even check it in the startup, but it still shows up in the preferences list.
I am at a loss. I have never encountered anything like this. Everything is always so easy and plug and play.
I have DP 8.07 on a MacPro 2 x 3.2 Ghz quad-Core Intel Xeon, 24 GB RAM OSX 10.3
The plugins are 64 bit.
TIA

Re: Plug Ins Not Available - Need Help
This happens occasionally after installing new plugins -- I have had it happen after an OS update. The first step is to reinstall DP 8, repair permissions and reboot. Usually there is no second step.
DP 8 installs over itself so you do not have to uninstall or remove anything first.

Re: Plug Ins Not Available - Need Help
Does that process usually replace those few preference files of DP?
If not, probably trashing those would be a good idea.
As an aside, one thing I've never done, but need to do-- is just take notes on my preferences so I can reset them quickly.

No.Does that process usually replace those few preference files of DP?
That is Step two. Usually not necessary. Do step one first and see if you still have a problem – most do not.If not, probably trashing those would be a good idea.
Certain installs screw up the paths to the plugins, Reinstalling fixes this. It has nothing to do with the Preferences.
I see this more with 7.24 than 8. With 7.24, you need to run the Uninstaller first – not an issue with 8.

Re: Plug Ins Not Available - Need Help
Thanks, Mike. I tried the install, repair permissions and reboot, and it had no effect. I am not sure what the "preference files" are that I need to trash for the next step.
Re: Plug Ins Not Available - Need Help
Are the plugs in your /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components folder?

Re: Plug Ins Not Available - Need Help
First, access your user Library by holding down option while you look at the GO menu from Finder. This is different from the root library.
Open the User Library from that Go menu and then find the Preferences folder.
In there, you'll see
com.motu.DigitalPerformer (a folder)
com.motu.DigitalPerformer.plist
com.motu.MotuAudioSystem (also a folder)
You can try trashing all three of those. But that might be overkill. You would only lose some settings that you'll have to re-do from within DP. Hopefully you haven't customized your DP too much. But I think you have to take this next step.

Re: Plug Ins Not Available - Need Help
Thank you. I tried that to no avail. Neither Amplitube 3, nor Bias is available to select.stubbsonic wrote:First, access your user Library by holding down option while you look at the GO menu from Finder. This is different from the root library.

<edit> Following this post I rebooted, and it looks like we are in business. Both plugins are available. Awesome! Thanks so much!
<edit> No. Now they both disappeared again. Jesus.

UPDATE:
I ran through the above procedure another time and it seems stable now. This time I tested it in a VI effects window. Strangely, I couldn't get the AU's to show at all. They would appear as if the interface was not engaged - so, not fully loaded in their individual windows. But, after I tried to load an AU in the Instrument selection, they popped right up.
So, now everything appears to be good. Thanks to all who responded.
