simple delay plugin

Post by maxime »

Hi
I 'd like to get a simple pure delay plugin to compensate for different mic placement (spot mics in an orchestra). I could not find any simple one who was inobstrusive in terms of sonics.
any ideas you all?
best wishes

if you're just compensating for mic placement (not using a dry signal), and want to avoid the delay's "sound". Why not just shift the tracks manually?

I'd like to help, but I'm not sure I understand your request. What do you mean by a "simple, pure delay" and "inobtrusive in terms of sonics?"

Maybe it's more effective for me to ask you: In what ways are the native DP delay and echo plug-ins not suitable for your task?

thanks for your replies
for orchestra work (classical music) shifting the bites works perfect. But for a rock session, you can get really nice drum sounds when delaying even further the room mics instead of doing it on the close up mics. I am just a bit bored using delays with too many features. I use DP as a player and editor more than an effect machine, as usually my mix choices come from mic placement and mic choices. I was wishing there was a plugin with no feedback, mix, LP or HP settings. just a fixed number of mSeconds, with both left and right linked.
I am coming from Pro Tools and such delays are really usefull with acoustic music mixing
have a good day

I do something along the lines of what you are trying to do often. With both drum rooms, guitars, and vocals.

Try these two things. PSP Audioware makes a copy of the Lexicon PCM42 which isn't bad. I've used the hardware one a lot in the past and the only real difference I've noticed is that the hardware version sounds a little more thicker that the plugin. But the plugin is still very good. Also as much as I don't like waves plugins I wouldn't be able to live without the 2 tap delay. It's just so quick, easy, and sounds decent.

The nice thing about both of these is that you can turn off the feedback and filters with ease so that you just get a nice delay sound without to much work.
