MachFive 3 Installation
Trying to install MachFive 3.0.1 on new MacBook Pro (Retina, 13 inch) OS X 10.10.1 using external portable drive (LG Portable Super Multi Drive). I hear disc spinning but never shows up on MacBook Pro screen. After 20 minutes I hear disc drive stop spinning but still no response on computer. Wondering if the drive is the problem. Anyone else have this issue with external drive? Thanks.

Re: MachFive 3 Installation
Don't. You don't need anything from all those DVDs as far as I know. There's a good chance that none of it will install. I'm certain hat none of it will run correctly so don't.
Go to MOTU.com, download the 3.2.1 installer instead. You should also download the latest versions of the libraries and the UVI libraries, too. Even though the UVI versions are the same, the builds on their web site are later and solve a lot of problems that people had like not working. You had to create a UVI account when you obtained the ILok license key -- after you remember how to log in, you download those libraries from your user account.
You will need the latest version of the iLok License Manager as well. If you've not used it before, it will take a bit of getting used to but between the manual and some old threads, you'll figure it out.

Thank you so much! I didn't even realize it was available online.
