DP to Pro Tools OMF interchange!

Hi everyone!!
I am attempting my first OMF interchange using a huge session from Dp to Pro tools, (74 tracks) and I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this for me.
Mostly, the does and do nots!
maybe from A-Z how its done would really help.
I want to make this as smooth as possible, Anybody?
Oh, and yes I have the latest Digitranslator installed in Pro tools!

i track in PT and then edit in DP.. what i do is track and then consolidate all the tracks so they start at the same point, then i import them into a DP session and edit and mix..

(i don't have digitranslator !)

BUT i think if you save as an OMF in Digi Performer with Audio embedded that should open a whole session in PT no worries.. (it will save one OMF file that will be huge and include all audio/fades/etc)

I tried using OMF files exported from a New York studio that was tracked in Pro Tools and exported but could never get it to work in DP.. i think you have to experiement and save a version of each export type to work out which one works .. sorry

Thanks for the thought, I am desperately avoiding the bounce to disk thing from DP because of the track count being so freakin huge!!
I would have normally done that, if the session wasnt 74 tracks! so I am going to have to experiment like you said and see whats what!
I will let you know how it goes.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, if someone knows whats up here, sure would appreciate some insight!!

Just make sure you have the digi translator setting enabled in DP's export window.

You can leave OMFI off, since your audio is probably 24 bit. I would just reference to the original audio, just like a project save it will create an OMF very fast. If it's a big session it takes a while if you embed your audio and it's not necessary. Let DP render your fades as audio to make sure your fades are exactly as within DP. Then choose if you want to include any volume automation you have in DP.

If you're avoiding it because of the time and trouble of bouncing 74 tracks, I think you could set it up with multi-bounce to do them all automatically.

Actually the multi bounce would help if it would be automatic, but how does that work as far as labeling your tracks, because when you do a normal bounce to disk it names the track (soundbite), the name of the seq (song), if I am remembering correctly! So whats up with the multi bounce way?
Next would be the digi trans way, of the two ways described here in this thread, whats best for this situation? Whos done both and what are the advantages from one to the next?
Sorry to get into this confusing questioning, but its something I will be doing a great deal of and I just want to make sure as to whats going to be the most efficient!

O.K. Thanks for the digitrans tips, they worked way cool!!
Except one thing, I cant seem to get the stereo audio sounbites to open up in my pro tools session the way they were in DP, Am I missing something as far as saving a certain way in DP? Or is it something I need to figure out on the Pro Tools side of the tracks?
All the stereo sounbites opened up as seperate mono L. R. files in Pro Tools.
All else was perfect and very easy!!! Thanks to my friend in Amsterdam
