RealGuitar 3 by Music Lab fails in DP8

Post by Eddy Yates »

:smash: Can't get RealGuitar 3 to work in DP8. The plugin scan always fails and it lists it as "Failed". I've added its folder in Plugin Preferences, then deleted the folder, then re-added it. Nothing seems to work. According to posts in other forums, people have had no trouble with it. It shows up and works fine in other DAWs on the same computer. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

You need to be more specific. What exactly do you mean by "not working"?

Is it a VI setup problem?
Does DP see the VI?

Remember that you need one track for the actual VI, and at least one MIDI track for firing the samples. You can do that, plus add a folder, with everything routed, in one easy step with the Add Instrument With Options command (in the TO with the contextual menu).
Mac Mini Server i7 2.66 GHs/16 GB RAM / OSX 10.14 / DP 9.52
Tascam DM-24, MOTU Track 16, all Spectrasonics' stuff,
Vienna Instruments SUPER PACKAGE, Waves Mercury, slaved iMac and Mac Minis running VEP 7, etc.

DP says RealGuitar doesn't pass the scan. It shows up as a "failed" plugin.

I have all three of Music Lab's products (including RG3) and all three have passed DP8's plugin tests. However, not without some trial and error, including some emails back and forth with Konstantin at Musiclab.

Bottom line: you have to be SURE that the 32 bit version of the .dll files are not the ones being picked up by DP8 or it will reject the plugin. The best thing to do is to start from scratch by uninstalling RG3 and manually deleting any artifact files and folders, so you have a clean slate. Then do a new install. Then hunt down the 32 bit .dll and kill it. I believe it will be in the c: / program files (x86) / VST plugins folder (not 100 % sure). The 64 bit version will be in its own folder area, like c: \ program files \ musiclab \ etc.etc. It will NOT be in the traditional c:\programfiles\vstplugins folder where many plugins put their dll files. And that is why DP8 is rejecting it, because it cannot find the .dll file. As dar as DP8 is concerned, RG3 doesn't exist on your computer. So ... go into DP8 - preferences - plugins and ADD the c:\program files \ music lab \ vst plugins (?) folder, then close DP and reopen and it should work.

I've also found that MusicLab products need to be authorized in stand alone mode first, then they pass inspection (my experience is on a Mac, however).

hmmmm....Did thusly, and RG DOES come up, but says "guitars not found." Were the samples in RG2 that I deleted? Don't see them on the disk.
