Hello all. I was experiencing MIDI problems (random note on triggers) and soft-synth audio problems (clicks/pops.) The solution to these problems was surprising and not all that easy to find. I posted this on the MOTU-Mac list but have read here about MIDI problems on DP 4.52 and so thought I would post my findings here also. Here is a portion of my post.
DP 4.52 seems to have changed something in its implementation of multiple core audio interfaces or perhaps something in core audio has changed since 10.3.8 as I did not experience this in 4.12. At any rate it turns out that in my case the MIDI problems (random note re-triggering, stuck notes, log jam type symptoms) were a red herring. Once I removed one of my two interfaces from the ••œconfigure hardware driver••Â

Re: MIDI/Soft synth problems resolved
i also had similar MIDI stuck notes and log jamming i traced it to dp transmit sync in dp's pref. it was sending sync to my carnaval. i turned it off/ set to none and all is well.
try that before you stop using the MIDI gear you removed.
hope this helps

You might want to reference the 'D.P. 4.52 Receive Sync?' thread below as well. I just went through a long trouble shoot session with Magic Dave of MOTU and he was eventually able to replicate the problem with midisync, which in turn also caused stuck notes and other misbehavior.
He confirmed a problem with DP4.52 when used with devices that transmit continual midiclock messages. My problem arose from slaving DP to a Roland VS (which had always worked seamlessly in prior versions of DP). When Dave hooked up a Yamaha Motif, which also sends continous midiclock messages, he experienced the same symptoms we'd been having.
Previously 4.52 had been tested using devices that sent midiclock only when 'play' enabled. This is why tech support seemed baffled by our problems.
He was hopeful that a fix can now be achieved soon and is a priority matter for the next update.
