Re: Cannot Force Quit Digital Performer
nyaha, I mean aha !! .. putting AM in da dock.
Oddly I have been able to hit the escape key in certain situations to free DP from whatever it was trying to do. It tends to help it you have't hit a dozen keys/clicks from that initial moment when DP went into a freeze.

Haha, both Activity Monitor and Terminal are in my dock. Fat lot of good that does, in most cases.

You should dump prefs while you're at it. That often is the source of a lot of inexplicable blockage.mhschmieder wrote:Haha, both Activity Monitor and Terminal are in my dock. Fat lot of good that does, in most cases.
But having access to these utilities in as many ways as possible doesn't hurt. If DP is hopelessly stuck, then it's just stuck. A total restart becomes the only way around it as a last resort.

It lives in my dock too, and I agree about the succession of key entries you referred to, Tonio. All too often I regret a flurry of keystrokes when I notice... the SWOD/BFH (spinning wheel of death/ beach ball from Hell).
I've not crashed my log into DP, even whilst running, as I love her too much? Nope.
I always run with my log and don't report crashes into DP, which perpetuates a bad image? No.
I need to check my log for evidence of collision with DP and run like Hell with the image? Naaa.
I give up, Magilla. Monkey's confused, as always.

you don't have to go thru all that stuff…
when I have an issue I just call the help line-- 617 576 3066
just hit these keys:
command
option
escape
voila!

I think back in 2008 a lot of people were having trouble with apps showing as "Not Responding". I recall a lot of reports back then of apps of all sorts hanging on save or hanging on quit. That was quite a few OSX and DP versions ago, though. I haven't had the hang issue lately, but you're right-- in a pinch, it's Command-Option-Escape.
Best,
frodo

You have no idea... then again, maybe you do. I play for too many standup and comedy shows, I suppose.Dan Worley wrote:Somehow I knew something like that was coming. You're too easy. lol.

But as an avid reader of this forum, it was a stupid question on my part.MIDI Life Crisis wrote:You have no idea... then again, maybe you do. I play for too many standup and comedy shows, I suppose.Dan Worley wrote:Somehow I knew something like that was coming. You're too easy. lol.
