I'm on an early 2008 dual quad core 2.8... Running on snow leopard with DP 6
I noticed when I opened the latest Guitar Rig on DP 6, I'd get 25% CPU consumption (just on guitar rig).
I'm curious if I'd get better Plug-In performance if I switched to the latest dp... If so, should I stay on snow leopard?
Willl DP 8 optimize CPU consumption better than DP 6?

If you are running DP 8 in 64bit, the answer is yes. This assumes that Guitar Rig is 64bit compatible which I don't know.
When 8 was released, many of us with older machines were pleasantly surprised that 64bit operation was easier on system resources. It is also able to use more than 4G RAM, a 32bit limitation.
There are many threads on optimizing performance on multi-core machines when using plugins.

Does dp8 work well with snow leopard? I hate upgrading OS' if I don't have to. I only use this computer for music.
