DP and Peak 5

I have a few questions mostly in regards as to how people are working in CD production. I have noticed in my limited time with DP that I couldn't do some of the requirements needed to facilitate Plant Production. DP does not provide mastering capabilities for delivery of a PMCD or DDP. So I went to a mastering specific program - PEAK 5. This allows me to create a final stereo master with ISRC's, CD text, PQ log, and deliver either a PMCD or DDP to the plant. Great. Or is it?

1. Is anyone out there using PEAK with their DP rig?

2. Are you using DP native plugs in PEAK? If so, do you have realocate them to Peaks plug in Library folder or have you found a way to route to their currnet location?

3. Where is everyone placing their native or third party plug ins? If you moved them, have you noticed problems in either program finding them?

4. If you are not using PEAK but are still producing plant masters, how are you proving this format to the plant? - what software are you using?

I know you can use JAM to get a lot of what I need for plant production - ISRC's and such, but I wanted something more solid. Also, a few people I talked with stated the latest JAM has problems with CD Text. Anyone else on this one?

Basically, I am looking for the most effective way to work. At my day job we used to work on Sonic Studios which was a all in one system. Then we switched to Pyramix, and Wavelab (PC based). They are great programs and Wavelab is super slick in getting mastering work done. Unbelievably fast with it's mouse controls and commands... I can see PEAK getting to this point but currently they have to many "round about" solutions to what should be simple one touch commands. Needless to say, I am not totally happy with it's navigation. What I am impressed with is the way it handles the math. Program sounds VERY good running through it.

Yes I am using DP 4.6 and peak.

I use it with DP as the multitrack and Peak as the Mastering.... kind of old school... like the 24 trk to a 1/2" mixdown deck...

When I BTD I don't use the waves or anything else across the master buss for mastering. I just get the levels as high as possible and use individual channel plugs for compression etc...

Then I move the file to peak and use the L3 waves plugin and any of the other AU plugs...

I works much better. Is easier on the cpu and Peak is much better and specific for mastering.

You can use any Audio Unit plug-ins in Peak, but not MAS format plug-ins (i.e. the ones that come bundled with DP). To get Peak to recognize your Audio Unit plug-ins, they must be placed in one of these two directories:

/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components

~/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components

If you can see your Audio Unit plug-ins in DP it means they are already located in one of these directories, and you shouldn't have to move them for Peak to see them.

I use Peak Pro 5 ( Peak 5 uses a dongle and I hate it with DP.

Peak support VST natively unlike DP...and it a good complimentary editor
for use with DP.

Also, it has more flexible tools for mastering and noise removal.
