When DP8 crashes I can only open the session with DP7.24
Hi guys,
I've been having a weird problem since I upgraded to DP8. Every time it crashes I can't reopen the session I was working in. If I try to open it DP will crash almost at the end of reloading everything. This has happened with several projects, but the one thing in common is that I'm using VEP and have a large track count and fairly high CPU usage.
Thankfully I noticed that I can open the session using DP7.24, so I keep working a few minutes from it and eventually I'm able to reopen the new saved session with DP8.05 and keep going. All this process takes a long time, though (about 10min), so I'm leaving in fear :/
Can you think of a better workaround (or a solution)? Not sure why this happens…
BTW Sometimes i can reopen the session with DP8 if I switch it to 32 bits, but not always.

Re: When DP8 crashes I can only open the session with DP7.24
Just as I posted this I had a crash and even though I'm able to open the session in DP7.24 I can return to DP8. Usually after a few saves in DP7 I can open the files in DP8, but so far not this time…

Need some more info - are you running DP8 in 64bit? How much RAM do you have? Are you
recording any of your VI's or are all your virtual instruments live? What VI's are you using?
What plugs? What is your audio interface? What buffer setting are you at? All these factors
can affect your situation.

What version of DP 8? Are you running 32 or 64 bit? Have you tried reinstalling DP? Have you run Console to see what isn't loading?
I ran into a similar issue after upgrading Izotope Ozone to Advanced 5.05. Console tells me that none of my control surface plugs are loading when this happens. Other times it loads fine. It only happens with one project so I'm not sure what is going on. It's a 2-track remaster so I might just copy the files into a new project and see if that fixes it. The project has no problem with DP 7.24.

Sure:David Polich wrote:Need some more info - are you running DP8 in 64bit? How much RAM do you have? Are you

I'm running Dp8.05 in 64bit
RAM: 26gig
OS: 10.8.5
Both. The CPU is count is fairly high since I run lots of VEP instancesrecording any of your VI's or are all your virtual instruments live
No VIs except for several instances of VEP which in turns run all my VIs.What VI's are you using?
What plugs
Several plugins (which usually live happy on my same template) Waves (SSL, Renascence & CLA), MOTU (lots of eqs, trims, etc) Breeze (2C-Audio), Altiverb 7, Soundtoys (Crystallizer & Tremolator), Ozone 5 (basic version) & Virtual Tape Machine (these 2 are in disable tracks and are only activated for mastering)
MOTU 2408What is your audio interface?
512What buffer setting are you at?
Thanks and hope that helps.

I'll try disabling Ozone, that plugin is a bit funny sometimes…mikehalloran wrote:What version of DP 8? Are you running 32 or 64 bit? Have you tried reinstalling DP? Have you run Console to see what isn't loading?

The weird thing is that everything works fine until I get a crash. After that is impossible to reload in DP 8.05 again.

For what is worth, I was able to reopen the session by disabling all the VEP instruments.
DP7 and VEP don't play well together. DP8 and VEP hate their guts...
