Easiest visual click setup? DP8

Post by Padank »

Hi Guys,
I see references to visual punches on pages 233 and 727 but I can't get it to work.

No external hardware, no movie (but I have the window open) I have checked all the boxes I can find in prefs regarding this.

My goal is a simple flash along with the click in any form. Heck a plugin will do if its easier!

What am I missing?
Thank you,
JC

I just tried but couldn't get it to work with the blank movie in 8.05 (funny, I seem to remember that working before, but maybe that was in an earlier version of DP).

In my case, to get the visual click to work for a set movie, I had to add at least one marker as a streamer, set to any duration, then rewind and play and the visual click would work, and then I was able to delete the marker. The visual click wouldn't work if I never added a marker as a streamer.

If you have the software, you can create a blank movie very easily in FCP X (or the like).

I don't know of any visual click plugins, but I'd be surprised if there weren't any.

Dan,
That worked, thanks!

A very bulky process for a such a simple task. I am shocked that there is not an included plugin or tick box that simply shows a visual click. Would be a great thing to have in the counter window or a just a separate plug in that does not use as much CPU as the movie window.

Anyhoo, thank you for the tip. I will probably add this to my template. If anyone finds a plugin (I've been looking) please let me know!

Ok, sorry to be so dense here but any suggestions as to why the punches (flashes) would not be in sync with the click? Its staying roughly in tempo but behind, then on, then ahead etc. The Blank movie is 30fps (tried 29.97 first) I have the lock to transport checked in the movie window. :banghead:

Thanks-
JC

Edit-AND I just noticed a hesitation between the preroll and beat 1 and wonder if this has something do do with the lack of sync. I don't think I have ever encounter this in the many years of using DP.
