Post Production with DP 4.61

Hi mates,

I am attempting do scoring (music) with DP. I came from ProTools LE. My system is the digi001 with a dual 1.25Ghz G4 with 2Gb ram. Hard Disks are ATA/IDE 7200rpm drives.

I have a session exported from ProTools to an omf file, and then importing it into DP as a DP session. program length is abt 48mins.

However, I noticed loading and saving the DP session is extremely slow. I have only like 8 mono audio tracks from the OMF.

Is it common or is there something wrong with my system or do i need a faster MAC G5 with SATA drives?

also, since the audio regions came from OMF they are not consolidated as one whole file, so will that contribute to the slow process?

next is, in Pro Tools (LE), while recording something (ie. someone playing a guitar) or during playback, i could perform fades, edits to other regions simultaneously, but in DP, when doing such "multi-tasking" stuffs, DP crashes (sometimes losing connection to hardware, sometimes just freezing)

At the moment, as mentioned, i'm just using DP for scoring music. but constant saving is importing, but having to wait so long for saving is affecting my workflow too!

any idea how to optimise my system?
