Anyone running a new Macpro with DP8?

Post by ahimmel »

I would love to hear some stories about the new macpro with DP8. How well does it perform? Which HDs are you using for recording and streaming VIs? Has anyone had luck installing a PCIe 424 card? Thanks in advance to anyone with some stories to tell.

I don't think the MacPro is even shipping yet. The Apple website says February for shipping.

No, MPs are out in the wild, some people do have 'em, looks like none of the peeps herein are bleeding edge adopters though. Some 'nationers have ordered - but if you didn't buy stock (non CTO) and if you didn't get in right at the very beginning of the first wave, you have to wait until February.
Cheers,
BK

…string theory says that all subatomic particles of the universe are nothing but musical notes. A, B-flat, C-sharp, correspond to electrons, neutrinos, quarks, and what have you. Therefore, physics is nothing but the laws of harmony of these strings. Chemistry is nothing but the melodies we can play on these strings. The universe is a symphony of strings and the mind of God… it is cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace.

We're bleeding edge adopters most if the time but not when the checking account is also hemorrhaging. Damn, that last word is tricky to spell.

I've had my order in on a Quad Core with 512 GB drive and 32 GB's of memory since 3:45 am Dec 19th. In other words, shortly after the store went live. Ship says "January" for me. I have a sneaking suspicion it will arrive sometime next week (got overnight shipping added).

I will have to set everything up, transferring data, etc, first. And then I'll try my current version of DP 7.24. However, I plan on upgrading to DP 8 shortly thereafter. So we will see.
