Undo Branching?

I haven't been getting Undo branching for some time. I can remember when it worked, but the last time I successfully used it was a long time ago. I haven't actually needed it very often since then, but I used to use it a lot. Now, either I've forgotten how to create a new branch, or it's just not working.

Can ANYONE get branching undo to work? I'm using DP 8.05, but I haven't gotten it to work for the past several versions. I can't actually remember the last version in which it worked. I've kind of assumed all this time that I was just doing something wrong, but I finally dug out the manual and studied what I'm doing. It should be creating branches all over the place. Why is it not branching?

Also, didn't we used to be able to resize the columns in the Undo History? I can't get them to budge, and there are many commands that are too long to fit in the main column, and I can't read them. It's hard to know where you're going back to if you can't read the command. So… that's two questions:

1) Why isn't it branching?
2) Why can't we resize the columns?

So, is there a single person in this forum (or a married one) who uses Undo Branching in Digital Performer? I'm betting not, but if so, any idea why yours works and mine doesn't? (nor has it for some long, long time)

I use 'show all branches at once' exclusively. Never really understood the other way of working.

I don't see different branches anymore like I used to. I don't remember when that changed. Many versions ago. Until I read this post, I just thought it was some setting that got messed up or that I didn't understand (and maybe it is), but I never investigated it.

I just found that I posted an identical thread back in about June or so of this year. So this isn't the first time I have really started wondering what the heck is going on.

There's a good bit about this in the manual, but it turns out that it's not working and hasn't been for some time.

Many years ago, I would go back into unused branches to pull out unedited tracks for a 2nd chance without having to undo everything else. There were other uses, too, but I don't remember them all. I've wondered for many years what happened to our branching undo.

The only times I've tried branching were unsuccessful. It appears that you have to make a conscious decision to create a new branch. I can't seem to do that while I'm creating music. I open the undo history and even though it does work, the branching thing remains a mystery to me.
