Bidule
Excuse me if this has been covered in the past. I'm thinking of getting Bidule since many swear by it. I'd like some info from users of it.
1) Is there a benefit to using it on a single machine or is it primarily used for a second slave computer?
2) what are the benefits to hosting virtual instruments in Bidule instead of in DP?
3) why should I get Bidule or why shouldn't I?
4) If I use Bidule to host my virtual instruments, does it help save on system resources?
5) Is it as complicated to figure out as some screenshots make it look?
6) Is it worth the $99?
I keep hearing the Bidule is a "powerhouse" so why?
Thanks!

Re: Bidule
I would also like to know more about this.
Is Bidule more efficient for hosting (Kontakt for instance) on the same machine than just hosting everything inside DP?

OSX Big Sur (latest). Mac Pro Late 2013 ("trash-can"), 3.5 Ghz 6-Core Intel XeonE5, 64GB RAM. Motu DP 11.31, Vienna Pro Server, Presonus Notion, Osculator, Keyboard Maestro, Tanqueray or Bombay Sapphire.
Re: Bidule
I downloaded the trial version last week which gives full features and usage until December 15th. I must say I'm very impressed with it so far. I've got my entire orchestra hosted in Bidule and running into DP via ReWire. As far as system efficiency, I don't think it does anything different, although I could be wrong. As far as workflow, it's fantastic, and surprisingly not that difficult to learn. If you need to switch your setup and re-route things in Bidule, it's super easy to do. The other great thing, is you can use it to host anything, meaning if you have a vst that isn't recognized in DP for whatever reason, you can still use it in DP by hosting it in Bidule. It also makes using 32-bit plugins in DP no problem. Even if Bidule is running in 32-bit (stand alone version only) you can still host 32-bit plugins and run them into DP via ReWire. I know I'm only starting with Bidule, but from what I've seen, it's worth the $99 and I'll be purchasing the full version. I'm glad I got the trial version first, but after knowing now from using it, it's worth the money even if you don't try first. I guess I answered my own questions I posted at the start of this thread..lol..Hope this helps.

Re: Bidule
I used Bidule extensively until some larger projects started stuttering. Looking into it, it was because to use it via Rewire into DP means it uses only a single core of the machine, as is the limitation with Rewire.
I went to VE Pro, which is the perfect solution in my book.

Re: Bidule
Can you host Kontakt instruments in VE Pro, such as Cinematic Strings 2, and still have the GUI showing? Or does VE Pro host instances of Kontakt similar to how Bidule works?

Re: Bidule
I'm not sure if I understand...but you can pop out any of the GUI's from their tracks so they are floating, and regardless, whatever track you click on the GUI shows up.amadeus_d wrote:Can you host Kontakt instruments in VE Pro, such as Cinematic Strings 2, and still have the GUI showing?
