Empty Bits in the TO

Post by bayswater »

I've been looking at a score in some detail, and to help, I downloaded a PD MIDI file of the piece. Opening that in DP, I can see a number of empty sections in the TO that overlay the end of many notes. I'm wondering where these would have come from, and whether they need to be removed. They don't seem to affect the playback in a VI. Maybe they are an artifact of the way DP parses MIDI in the TO?

Picture one shows some notes in both the TO and SE. You can see an empty part in the TO. Picture two shows the same things with the empty part deleted. (When I delete these empty parts, there is always another very short empty part right at the end of the notes, also deleted in Picture 2).

Have you checked the Event list to see if there is data that is not a note in there?

PD MIDI files are rife with patch change data that render them nearly useless without deleting them.

Thanks. I can see controllers in the Event list. Didn't know those would show up this way in the TO, especially layered like that, 3 layers deep.

(I did a search and delete for all the patch change events first thing, so knew it wasn't that.)

I don't know. I've been able to remove these parts, but is that the way they are expected to show up in the TO? If so, it's solved. If not, there's something odd with the way the TO is displaying events.
