Can't load New Insert Settings DP8.04

Post by sergiosacoto »

Hi!
I'm an old DP user, but relatively new to DP8. My problem is that I'm not able to save and load insert settings like I use to on DP 7. I used to save all plugging settings in a track ( for example, in a guitar track: comp, eq and chorus) so I can load all plugging and plugging settings later on a similar track.
Now I can load all insert settings previously saved in DP7, but whenever I save a new setting, it goes to library/ application support/MOTU/Digital Performer/Insert Setting Presets, from which I'm not able to load it, because there is only previously (DP7) made folders in insert setting menu.
Can anybody help me resolve this tedious matter?
Thanks in advance

Sergio

Maybe I'm not clear enough, so I copied a post from a fellow DP user that used to have (or has) this same issue:

When trying to save a channels insert settings, we follow our normal protocol of clicking the insert settings button and selecting "Save Insert Settings". It appears to have worked properly. However, when we try to reload, the newly saved setting cannot be found in the pull down list. Neither can the file be found by doing a Finder search. We had normal folders for storage and retrieval in the normal DP lib/appl support/motu/dp/insert settings presets. (which is what the DP8 manual says is the path. We can recall all our old DP7 inserts, but cant store or recall to our folders. (ie: vocs/reverbs etc)

I think this was tracked down by others to a permissions issue on the folder(s). Get Info on the folder(s) your are trying to save/load from and see if you or you as administrator have read/write permissions.

I'm having the same problem - I can save insert settings, but cannot load
them. Setting the permissions to read/write for folders where the settings
are stored doesn't fix things, at least not on my systems. I simply cannot
load saved insert settings.

Have to conclude this is a bug. Not a nuclear deal-killer, but quite annoying.

Are you saying that when you save them they don't appear as a selection in the Insert Settings drop-down for that type of track? Mine do and inserts load fine. Or are you trying to load them from the Open Insert Settings Folder dialog? That does not work here.

If you put all of your named folders and/or presets in the user Common folder in the Insert Setting Presets (~/Library/Application Support/MOTU/Digital Performer/Insert Settings Presets/MAS/Common) it should put them all in the Insert Settings drop-down selection. The folder structure appears to be pretty much written in stone to allow the ability to have the presets displayed/available by track type. The ones in Common are available to all track types and are listed after the MOTU supplied presets (which are in the local library rather than the user library).

Done!! It seems that it was sending me to the wrong folder for saving, I carefully followed the path and nailed it. Thanks a lot!!!
