Lots of people reporting kernel panics with PCIe-424 cards. I'll pass for now. Too much going on to do an interim install like that just to "play." I'll wait... I'm really sure MOTU is going to suss it out soon. :)

I used the link posted on this board to buy Mountain Lion as I don't know how soon MOTU will have the PCIe drivers ready for Mavericks. I don't want to chance it, but I am TEMPTED, because until I get the info on how to get Mavericks via email, I'm hating life on Lion. It feels noticeably sluggish compared to Snow Leopard on this machine. :(
Try Maverick on a separate drive. Buying ML like getting two upgrades for almost free. I'd be surprised if it didn't work fine on 'e cards.
That's what I'm doing, and I'm hard pressed to find anything that Maverick breaks except for the MainStage2 32 bit bridge and PPC applications that ran under Rosetta (Unisyn :( )

Even some old original UB applications seem to run just fine.

Right... well not being able to boot due to kernel panics is problematic. :) Especially because one user reported that the only way to boot the machine fully was to physically REMOVE the PCIe-424 card. So having it on another partition would be a good experiment, but there's a chance that I won't be able to reclaim that partition if it refuses to boot without unconnecting the various gack that's hooked up to my Mac and removing the PCIe-424 card to reformat the partition and then have to put it back in.

I'm notoriously impatient about some things, but OS updgrades isn't one of them. :)

James your going to love 8.5. With the exceptions as noted previously in 64bit. I'm still running Hypersonic 2 in 8.5 and it even runs in Maverick. (Sort of my test bed ploy) :-)

Maverick on separate drive is really the best way! My 8.5 is still in tact for me with DP. I don't have a 'e card so I can't report on issues. I'm about to jump to DP 8.5 as well as a Christmas present.

Found one problem mixing with 7.24 in Maverick. Automation updates in trim seem to not hold after roll back, stop and save. Anyone else running 7 please confirm. Latch/write works fine. Also got a sync error placard.

I've been spending a lot of time with Finale since upgrading to Mavericks, so haven't been using DP as much. But so far Mavericks is easily the most painless OS upgrade my 2008 iMac has been through (it started its life on Leopard), and the first one that has made it run better. :D

The only casualty so far is that I'm no longer able to control the volume on the Apogee Duet with the Apple remote, but hopefully Apogee will fix this.

And don't forget the new version of Finale (Lion or better) is to be released shortly.

Yes, I've been watching Justin's "leaks" with mounting excitement. Sibelius is floundering a bit with Mavericks (sacking the development team probably hasn't helped), so it could be a good time for MakeMusic.

Just got around to testing this on my test drive and I can't duplicate the problem. Is it still bugging you?

That's reason enough for me to pass. PCIe-424 has been working better than ever in my current system. I used to have to reset it almost every day, as the driver just wouldn't recognize that it was connected to a couple of actual interfaces. Reset it by unplugging the computer (cutting all power) and then starting again, and it would find the boxes. That was an every day affair for 6 years or so. Now it works perfectly every time! It's been working for over a year, and I've gotten used to that. I'd rather not lose that again right now.

I am having an odd problem running DP 8.05 in Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks).

When I launch DP 8.05 it loads a project but then just sits there when i hit play.

I have to force quit DP and re-launch and then it works.

Any one else with this problem?

Perhaps DP 8.05 is not really ready for Mavericks.

It's ready. Have you tried reinstalling DP.

I've scanned your signature and see no mention of the audio interface you're using? I'll see if it's in an earlier post. That would be helpful to add to your sig. :)
