DP friendly Mixers and External Modules

Post by advancedspectrum »

Hello All,

I have not posted in a long time but had a question for you. Please redirect me to postings that discuss this already -

From your experience what are some example mixers and external reverb/compressions/etc modules that have worked well with DP 8 for you? I understand preferences and liking are subjective and dependent on the ears of the beholder.

Yamaha N8/12 for example works better with Cubase rather than DP as with DP you cannot fully realize/exploit the mixer's offering.

I am planning an expansion of my current set up which consists of Presonus Firestudio, Mac G5, Kuzrweil Sp88, DP 8, Komplete 7 and some other virtual libraries. I record mostly instrumental music. Would like to invest in gear that will help me expand slowly in the future.

Your thoughts would be most appreciated.

Thanks
Adam

Is the question what hardware works well with your DP software? All of them work the same, since the hardware has nothing to do with the software. The reason a Yamaha mixer may integrate directly with Cubase is because Yamaha owns Cubase. Otherwise, you have to use a mixer that has a 3rd party protocol that DP also uses, like MCU. Any MCU mixer will control DP in the exact same way, with other various bells and whistles tacked on. Mackie Control, SSL Nucleus, and Avid Artist come to mind.

I have a JL Cooper CS-32. Worked beautifully with my G5 and DP. Won't with on an Intel Mac. DP isn't the issue.

Thanks for the replies guys! Much appreciated. Yes, I am looking for info on what models are working well with DP. Outboard rack units, effects modules, flatbed mixers, etc. I am planning to expand my home studio.
