Re: DP8.04 isn´t creating new Soundbites from cuts anymore.
I believe it has something to do with DP and not my system.
The quantize file corruption issue occurs in all projects, not just one. Could be a problem with that I bounced 2 mono files into a stereo file (banjo with 2 mics.) and let DP import the bounced file in the bounce settings.
When I press Option+R at that point DP shows the bounced file in the bounce folder and NOT in the audio folder. Quite strange IMO. (Also DP Preferences are set so all audio files get imported in the project audio folder and beats are detected).
It´s this imported file that gets corrupt when quantizing. When I cut this soundbite in several pieces and quantize them in separate steps, that is when the files freak out and get messed up.
The first quantized file gets overwritten with the second or DP will crash.
Haven´t tested if it also happens with non imported mono/stereo files. I recently started using this feature so I can´t compare to my OSX 10.6.8 set up.
Maybe you could try recreate my workflow and see if it works for you guys. I´d love to know if it works for you. Plz bounce a track and let DP import it automatically into the project, cut this soundbite in 3 and try quantizing them in 3 steps. (not all att the same time). Let me know.
Thanks

Don't know if this is your exact work flow, but it seems to be ok here. I put a single test wave in a project with nothing else, bounced, cut the bounce into 3, and quantized them one at a time.Radiogal wrote:Maybe you could try recreate my workflow and see if it works for you guys. Here are screen shots of the project and the project folder.
1. Original project
2. After the bounce.
3. After the cut and first quantize
4. After second quantize
5. After third quantize.

The only related problem I've come across is the occasional crash when finding beats in a selected range within soundbite. I'm assuming somewhere in this overall process, beats are being calculated in a section of the bounced wave prior to quantizing, when the selection becomes it's own wave file.

Pardon my need for clarity, but could you tell me specifically what you mean by MOTU Audio Setup? Are you referring to Apple's Audio/MIDI Setup? Or are you referring to the hardware setup? I don't think it could be the latter, since you can't leave it open and continue to work. So, is it the Apple utility?Kubi wrote:How does this video card/MOTU Audio Setup incompatibility manifest itself?
Not trying to be anal about it; I just really don't know if there is something I've missed.

I´ll try the same thing after creating a new project in DP8 and see if my issues are caused by the project being created in an earlier DP version.
I´ll dig into that tomorrow!
I might even try posting some pics.. (Thanks Shooshie!)

It's an actual app, Shooshie. I think it gets installed with my UltraLite driver.Shooshie wrote:Pardon my need for clarity, but could you tell me specifically what you mean by MOTU Audio Setup? Re: DP8.04 isn´t creating new Soundbites from cuts anymore.
Follow up: Seems like the issue is solved when I merge the audio file so DP creates a new file in the Audio folder. Even though I selected that DP always should import all audio files in the Preferences, DP doesn´t seem to do so with the bounced files as they are stuck in the Bounces folder and NOT copied into the project Audio Folder.

years...after doing pitch correction, after overdubbing, after copying and pasting..I just do it religiously. Here's my analogy - the more you cut up
soundbites, the longer the "audio train" that DP has to keep pulling along.
Probably not an accurate analogy but that's how I think of it.

However I find it bugging that DP doesn´t import bounced files into the Audio Folder even when having set all these preferences to do so and coursing my initial problems. Merging after import is a work around but not really the solution.

DP puts bounces wherever you want them. You can select any folder when you set up a Bounce and can save the path for subsequent bounces inside a project. You could select the Audio folder if you want but I don't understand why anyone would. It does not copy the bounced audio into the Audio folder, however. I don't recall that DP ever had that functionality.Radiogal wrote: However I find it bugging that DP doesn´t import bounced files into the Audio Folder even when having set all these preferences to do so and coursing my initial problems. I set up multiple bounce folders inside my project folder. One is for my bounces to .wav; another is for mp3 bounces while a third may be for alternate mixes. I bounce in batches so all my wav are done first, mp3s next etc. so resetting the path works great for me.

Re: DP8.04 isn´t creating new Soundbites from cuts anymore.
True, I use the Bounces folder or another folder that I named in the project folder for that. However, the option and choice that you want DP to IMPORT it directly in the project after bouncing, should lead to that DP would copy it into the Audio Folder as well, as it does with all other imported audio files. By not doing so, DP caused the problem I mentioned in this topic.mikehalloran wrote:DP puts bounces wherever you want them. Are you sure that's the cause of the problem? DP doesn't require you to have anything in the Audio folder. It's just the default location for takefiles and imports.Radiogal wrote:However, the option and choice that you want DP to IMPORT it directly in the project after bouncing, should lead to that DP would copy it into the Audio Folder as well, as it does with all other imported audio files.
