Re: DP8 and Windows 8.1
I don't want to directly jump to DP8.
I bought it and tried it for about a week.
It now sits on my shelf.
7.24 is humming along and working great.

Re: DP8 and Windows 8.1
7.24 is not an option for Windows. I had DP running on the 8.1 preview and it worked, but I did nothing more than some simple sessions playback and mix - not any recording or demanding stuff. 8.1 may be a little deeper that most expect, i.e. I had to reinstall drivers and a couple of apps even though I was just upgrading from Win8. There are several things that have gone missing in 8.1 that were included in 8 like Windows 7 File Recovery (which I prefer to File History), some different config options and shortcut keys, i.e. Windows-Q was gone - the Start Menu icon on the desktop task bar replaces it. I don't know what/if ultimately made it back into the RTM. I went back to Win8 even though I have the 8.1 RTM - didn't feel like wasting the time with a clean install which was required over the Preview. I will be interesting to see how they push out this update/upgrade to all the Win8 installs - it could get messy. I'm turning off automatic updates until I see how it's working for others.Lalay45 wrote:I don't want to directly jump to DP8.

Re: DP8 and Windows 8.1
Hello, thanks for your replies, looks nice you have it tested with the prerelease of 8.1 although not getting deep on it. You don't need to disable automatic updates in W8 as W8.1 update will come through Windows Store (did the same, honestly, but when I knew that put updates back to automatic). I'll have it installed and well tested as I'll be on some mixes shortly, so I will post results here within a couple of weeks or so. Got a recovery image just in case...
Cheers!!

Re: DP8 and Windows 8.1
Brave soul. One thing I did read was they added back the System Image capability (part of Win 7 File Recovery) that had gone missing in the 8.1 Preview. It now resides in the bottom left of the File History control panel. As long as I can have a recent image around along with File History, I'm good.
PS - My experience is that DP 8.05 is much smoother window wise than the previous release. If you were experiencing the little glitchy background/foreground active window issues and short 'not responding' hangs, they are now gone for me.

Re: DP8 and Windows 8.1
performance is much better now but that can be because of 8.05 update, less cpu usage when bouncing, for example.
Regardin w8.1 I,m delighted with it, all seems to run slightly faster and all hardware runs ok, so results are ok with my pc configuration
