I have a project where the client and I decided that it would be cool to have a little slapback on a word or so in his vocals.
I correctly setup Waves SuperTap 2 as a plugin on the vocal tracks that we wanted to engage this on in certain spots. (Not as an aux.)
I automated the tracks, used the dropdown menu to insert a SuperTap bypass and then when the effect was desired, pulled the line up to "Enable" and then back down to "Bypass" when the effect was complete. (Is it just me but does this convention seem backwards for all Enable-Bypass?...Seems like "up" should be "on" and "down" should be "off"...like a light switch.)
Anyway, when running the real-time mix, the plugin seemed to have a mind of its own and would sometimes "ignore" the bypass and allow the effect to happen.
On a subsequent pass it would sometimes function as programmed, sometimes not.
Our workaround was just to do the mix and if it acted up, back up a bit and run past the same area again.
I even tried adding a few more bypass and enable points to try and "prime" the plug in, but I can't say that that actually helped.
I Googled and actually found a thread here from a few years ago, but no solution.
Just wondering!

Re: Waves SuperTap 2 Weirdness: Bypass and Enable
Are you recording the bypass automation live? When you look at the automation channel, does it look like what you recorded? Seems like I always end up drawing my bypass automation, because something always goes wrong when I try to do it live. It's my own fault, of course, because I end up messing with it while it's playing, and it records all my actions. Drawing bypasses just seems easier for me.

Up is on, Bypass On.
I know, it's hard not to think, Effect on or Effect off.
I just tested Super Tap and it's working correctly here, Buzzy.
Sometimes, when things act up like that, a restart usually does clear the trouble.

Re: Waves SuperTap 2 Weirdness: Bypass and Enable
Shooshie, no I'm inserting the enable and bypass manually. I'm not recording the automation as the mix is running if I understand your question correctly.
The other weird thing that I neglected to mention is that that the Waves SuperTap plugin in the channel track insert would show bypassed even though I was hearing the effect.
Dan, I think I tried a restart, but I can't remember right off hand.
If it happens again, I'll try that.
Merci...

I've had the same thing happen, and with Waves plugins. Don't think it's DP because I saw it in Cubase too. It was rare and intermittent, and I never figured out why it happened.
