OS for DP7

Hello,

So I have my new (used) Mac Pro up and running. I was wondering if it was "safe" to install )S 10.8 and run DP7 on it? ANy problems. I'm going to upgrade to DP8 eventually, but until then will DP7 work well with 10.8?

ps. the Mac Pro came with 10.6.8 installed, but I'm switching to and SSD boot drive and wanted to do a clean install.

Many of us do. Because of certain plugs (or settings) that aren't compatible with DP 8, some of us keep DP 7 alive to open, tweak or finish legacy projects - myself included. Others just haven't upgraded (yet?).

DP 7.24 is required for OS 10.7 and above. If you have an older version, no problem. Install from the CD, download and install the 7.24 updater, then Authenticate using your original CD. The Authenticator absolutely will not work until the updater has been run so don't bother trying. You do not need to run any of the intermediate updaters, only 7.24.

After you are done, Repair Permissions. If you have done the above and have trouble with the Authenticator, Repair Permissions and try again.

If you are running Izotope plugs, certain late versions work in DP 8 but not 7 (!). Ozone 5.04 is one of them. 5.03 is fine, however. The issue is support for 32bit Carbon - Izotope is dropping it (as MOTU did DP 8 ).
