Supposedly fixes issues with sleep in certain scenarios, under Windows. Good idea to update regardless of issues or not. Working well here.

I have honestly no clue of MOTU's internal practices, but it is more than common for things quietly to be enhanced or optimized in a new driver or firmware without official mention. That's why I always am a fan of updating, especially with a good company like MOTU and not some experimental low level company that may introduce new issues instead.

Quite often, company A sees an issue with company B's product on the same machine, so they alleviate it. Things like that.

It's worth to mention that this new driver does not mention A-Wire MOTU hardware. It's confusing, but it works!
Then, owing MOTU hardware for several years now I beleive that MOTU likes when their customers pull out and in their A-Wire cards. Either they can not make some updating without pulling card out and in?

My last attempt to install drivers showed that 55333 version does not work on 32-BIT WinXP for PCIe-424.

Never a need to physically remove any card.

The simple answer is that the newest drivers don't support XP. They have a separate link for their last legacy driver which does support XP. ("Older versions" link on the download page.)

As for audiowire cards, on the download page it says this, with the word all in it: "Installs latest drivers and software for all MOTU audio products."

In all manuals for PCI Audio-Wire cards I have was written that driver installation must be executed without card installed. Is It a lie?

Yes, new driver 58373 is not for WinXP. But I told that installation does not mention A-Wire card, just USB/Firewire and Microbook.

Then new 55333 driver for WinXP does not work. "Logical error 15" appears, the same I got with previous version of driver. MOTU Support wrote that card does not properly installed in PCI-E slot. And this is not correct because in Win7 it works

I wouldn't classify it as a lie, but it's still untrue anyhow. Windows doesn't ever need hardware removed to install a driver under any circumstance or condition.

To fix your XP, all you need to do is leave the card alone and in. Then just clear out your machine (the partition or drive of XP - 7 can be kept alone as is) of all MOTU items.

That is a little easier said than done if you aren't very familiar with Windows but I will outline some important points off the top of my head:

1) Uninstall the MOTU driver normally as you would any other software.

2) Navigate to C:\Windows\Installer (or X:\ where x=XP drive or partition) and add the "Authors" column. Click the column now to make it alphabetical order. Delete anything still present with the MOTU name.

3) Open Regedit. Click on the "Computer" at top in the left window pane and then press Ctrl+F on the keyboard. Search for "MOTU" and delete the entry (the key, like a folder) you find. Press F3 to find the next one. Delete that and repeat until all MOTU is cleared. Close Regedit.

4) Navigate to C:\Program Files and if MOTU folder is there, delete it.

5) Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data and delete the MOTU folder if present.

6) Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\{YOURUSERNAME}\Application Data and delete the MOTU folder if present.

7) Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\{YOURUSERNAME}\Local Settings\Application Data and delete the MOTU folder if present.

8) Download, install and run Ccleaner to clean the machine of all junk files. Then, use it again to clean the registry of all it finds.

9) Reboot for good measure.

10) Open Regedit again and double check this location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services

for any Motu entries such as MOTUFWA or whatever it is for Motu's audiowire. If you find anything belonging to MOTU, delete then close the program.

11) Install the latest XP-compatable MOTU driver.

Good luck and tell us how it goes, please.

Thank you for the detailed description. But I found the previous version of 32-bit XP driver (57483) and after installation the driver has found connected interface. Then will see how it will work in real operation.
