DP8.04 crashing when using pitch correction
I am using manual pitch correction a lot on two projects at the moment. Quite often DP(v8.04 64bit) crashes, and then after reloading, the same crash repeatedly happens at the same point in the song. So far, one fix I have found is to reload the song, and BEFORE trying to play it, go to Waveform Editor, find the offending section or soundbite, and write a new sound file of that section and then paste it into the relevant track overlaying the 'bad' section. This is quite a slow process especially as it happens often; but it is a crash which should not happen at all and, AND I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR IF ANYONE ELSE HAS SIMILAR EXPERIENCES, and of course whether anyone can help me work out why it is happening and to fix what is causing it.
Re: DP8.04 crashing when using pitch correction
That's one of the main reasons I went back to 8.01.
I wrote Motu's tech support about this and their answer was: Sorry, we couldn't replicate the crash.
mmm... ok thanks.

Re: DP8.04 crashing when using pitch correction
No problems here.
I believe in your case it could be a processing/read/write problem.
Start by doing the usual first aid:
Repair permissions (hard drive)
Try to change your Setup/Audio hardware driver: Work priority (Low/mid/high).
Buffer size is another one. Try to raise it.
Move your project to another folder or make a copy of it so it gets rewritten on the audio disc. Could be a disc read error.

Re: DP8.04 crashing when using pitch correction
Thanks, but none of the procedures made any difference. If I rewrite a 'corrupted' project to another folder on another hard disc the problem remains. I have not tried going back to v8.01. Did that cure the problem? As for repairing disc permissions, I do that often and they ALWAYS need repairing(even only hours after being repaired - why is that?) and it hasn't made any difference. I continue with frequent crashes when heavily using manual pitch correction, I have given up trying to use MOTU's help; cannot even register a query as their website refuses to accept my submissions. I AM a registered user, but it all seems like a waste of time.
Re: DP8.04 crashing when using pitch correction
Or how about doing a merge of the offending track (to create a new soundbite) and working on that?
