I was listening to some music when suddenly everything went crunchy. Sounds like it is playing with 1 bit resolution and strong 50Hz tones. The 24IO no longer lights up at all, and emits a loud buzzing sound when turned on for about 0.5 seconds.
Any way to rescue this?

Re: Is My 24IO Dead?
First, make sure it's set to pass sound from an input to speakers correctly.
Shut it off, then disconnect it from the computer entirely.
Turn it on and press play on your input or if it's a music instrument, play it.
Does it make good sound at all like this?
It could be that you just need to change the firewire IEEE 1394 driver (not MOTU driver) to the one with "Legacy" in it's name that is already on the system if using Windows 7, using the Device Manager. If that's true though, that's not going to help the display at all if it's damaged. That could be a totally separate issue (although probably not.) Or, it could be all related and just temporary until you re-power up.
