Noob help - Can I make my DAW see more Outputs with my MB1

Post by oukourj »

Hi !

I own a MicroBook (1st version), and I want to be able to route some signals to my headset via the Cue channel in Ableton Live, but in the Output Config (in the Preferences, in Live), I see only the Outputs 1&2 (which are connected to my 2 Yamaha HS50s).

Is there something I missed configuring in CueMix FX, or is the MicroBook limited to these two configurable Outputs ?

I would :rtfm: but really I simply don't understand why the headphones & line out are not listed... I mean they ARE outputs, aren't they ?

Thanks a lot !

Edit: My MB has Firmware 1.09 and driver 4.0.

I can't say for sure since I don't own the same unit as you. I have the Traveler.

If yours is designed anything at all similar, then you can open up the MOTU Audio Console then go to the Microbook tab. You can then set the Phones Assignment to mirror any output pair.

In Ableton Live, then just make the mix you want to hear in your headphones output to the same output that you have Phones Assignment set to. (You might have to create a 2nd output bus or something.)

I'm unsure how to do that in Ableton because I never used it. I'm a Cubase/Sound Forge/Goldwave guy. To give you a similar idea, in Cubase it is Devices | VST Connections | Outputs

Hi!

Thanks for the reply.

My first issue here is that MicroBook 1 is not configurable via MOTU Audio Console: it installs with the drivers, but the software won't recognize the interface.

AFAIK, MicroBook simply is not made for using with this program... :(

A little precision on my objective: I want to have some sound routed to the headphones ONLY (and not in the main Outputs... so I guess mirroring wouldn't work for me).
