OK, things I’d liked fixed in DP when it comes to automation could be a big subject.
But this one might be agreeable enough that I might get a consensus here, so I thought I’d mention it.
Faders and Aux sends behave differently in touch mode.
In FADER automation, one can grab automation in touch mode and it will hold for as long as one keeps their finger on the hardware fader. Such as with using AVIDs artist mix controller.
Add 2db, keep finger on fader, faders holds at +2 db. Let go and, according to the ramp automation time in prefs, faders goes back to previous automation levels....all is well!
But in AUX sends, it does NOT hold. One can add 2 db to a send for example, and it will constantly fight to go back to the previous automation level, even if one keeps their finger on the hardware controller.
This is pretty strange and inconsistent.
Basically, this flaw creates the need to do all reverb/delay send automation in LATCH mode, which is not always convenient.
It would seem logical that if FADERS hold their positions in touch mode when one keeps their finger on the hardware fader, and until let go..then aux faders SHOULD act the same way.
Strange...
Seems like a flaw in programming to me.
Is it DP? Avid?...
I might be more Avid as my tests show the fader holds when using a mouse. I’d like confirmation of this though because DP is so sluggish in this huge mix I am running, I can;t quite tell.
