Absolutely: Worth it, better, integrates like it was already there.

Once you make the mental change-over and get used to not reaching for the mouse, big time saver.

If you are engineering and recording your own performance, there are two separate foot switch inputs, that function right out of the box, to roll tape and stop, and punch in and out. A real convenience.

Been using it 2 years, I like it so much, I just added MCU Extender (8 more channels) I'm likin' this.

(PS I don't work for Mackie)

I've been using for about two years. I haven't seen anything in the same price range that I'd replace it with. The displays, controls, all there at your finger tips... literally

Just a quick question, does the on screen fader in DP reach unity when the Mackie Control fader is pushed to the top?

I am using an 01X to emulate the Mackie and have noticed that the DP faders stop at -.1 db. I assume that the Yamaha code is in error in how it counts starting with 0 instead on 1 or something, but I thought I would check here since I am not getting any response on the Yamaha site. Thanks Stephen

Screen faders reflect Mackie UC faders precisely.

MIDI tracks are at 127 with Mackie faders maxed (as refected by the screen fader value).

Audio faders are at +6.02 (screen value) with Mackie faders maxed.

Option clicking audio onscreen faders sets both motorized and screen to unity.

Option clicking MIDI onscreen faders sets both motorized and screen to 127.

Question for all you Mackie users.
When shifting from one bank of 8 channels to the next 8 does DP's Mix window only show you 8 channels at a time? Thats been my experience using a DM-24 in HUI mode. If I have DP's mixing window showing 24 tracks, everytime I shift to the next 8 tracks on the DM-24 DP's Mix window compresses down to the 8 tracks that show up on my DM-24 only. It's not the end of the world but its a bit of a PITA. :x Is there anyway to keep DP's Mixing window from compressing down to 8 channels? I also noticed this a few years ago using DP3 in OS9 using a Mackie HUI as a controller.

That is the unfortunate thing. DP's Mix window when it is the Forfront window and you bank switch will only show x# of channels at a time whereas x= # of faders in your MCU system (for me it bvank switches 32 faders at a time)

I was afraid that might be the case.
Thanks Giles.

A little drawback with the MC is that it doesn't follow when you change to the V-rack...... bummer when your master is in there.....

I••™ve been offered a deal for a mackie control. Not a Universal. Did anyone have one and upgraded to universal? Is there any difference between the two once upgraded. I••™ve been on Mackie••™s site and I know what they••™re saying over it but I wanted the advice of someone who actually own one.

The only advantage of upgrading to the universla is if you need HUI mode (Mainly for Pro-Tools)

To Giles - Mackie EXT

Post by greymantle »

Let me see if I can formulate the question.

The EXT "wants" to sit to the left of the MCU, the tracks default open on the MCU from left to right and then over on the EXT from left to right.

How might one have tracks default open on the EXT first so 1 through 16 will appear left to right across the two control surfaces matching my on screen mix board.

Big thanks

Do my eyes decieve me, or is the Mackie Control really 1000 dollars?

Is there a cheaper alternative?
