hello this is my first posting sorry if this question has already been answered.
i have the 828mk1 and once in a while goes crazy and my audio gets all jittery clicky and poppy and the analog activity LED's start bliking, anyone else experience this? is it a part or component thats overheating or something? can someone please point me in the right direction.
im pretty handy with a soldering iron if its just replacing a component.
i love this thing and would like to keep it going if possible.
thanks
Nebula

lol how come whenever someone feels confident with an iron, they always want to replace parts (me included)?
Nahh...have you changed out the IEEE 1394 firewire driver to the one with Legacy in its name that is already on your system using the Device Manager (devmgmt.msc), since you are (I'm guessing) using Windows 7?
ok then, try that.

i used to do fine pitch rework for a living so nothing really scares me
i dont do too high level recording just demos, i mainly use the 828 for its adat in and out, is there another cheap alternative pci or pcie card or usb interface that will do this? something that i can use with my (dont laugh) Behringer ada8000?

I hear ya...
You might want to try this method I've outlined over at Eightforums. It is for Windows 8, but it might very well work a treat for your XP since the driver is thoroughly tested to work well with MOTU units:

What is fine pitch rework? Interesting; I've never heard of it.
