I won't even go into the anger of upgrading to DP8.
OK, I will because you need to know.

First DP8, is great cool, has "Some" new features, and more themes.
oh, and it works in 64 bit mode, just for $50 MORE, the the previous DP-DP upgrades {$149}.
BUT, and I mean FREAKING BUT. for $200???? for what??

all my 32bit invested plug-in, don't work in 64 bit, which is understandable.
but here is the real problem, after this partial venting.
I have tried the DP8 Demo, just because it was an easy free download, 7 was working perfectly.
I got very comfortable with DP8, at the end of my demo time, I went back to DP7, and my Behringer MIDI Fader drivers were missing.
so I downloaded the D.P 7.24 update again, thinking it would load the drivers, but it ERASED
DP7.
Then I tried to re-install the DP7 from the original disk, but the install just hung, and would
not complete the install.
I had a job due, and I was forced to buy DP8.
after buying DP8 ($200), I just accepted it.
so I open up the song I'm composing, and the Behringer MIDI Fader drivers were there in DP8.
I'm Happy, so I open up the file, which has BPM (32 bit ver. 1.0)
and BPM is missing (AND I AM IN 32 BIT MODE) so yes I am pissed!!!!

Does ANYONE have a solution, without me buying BPM 1.5?
I still need to upgrade to Ethno {$179}
so a $200 DP8 upgrade, is costing me $400+ to do what DP7 did so well.
Needless to say I can not finish on my client's project, until BPM Loads

the rich gets richer, and the poor stays miserable
DP8 Seem Great, I love it, but If I knew this, I'd have stayed with DP7
until I was ready to plunk down some cash.
during demo mode, Test ALL your Plugs, in 32 and 64 bit. be prepared

Quite interesting re BPM. Since moving to DP8 it is completely unusable for me too. V 1.05 will crash DP 100% of the time in 32 bit mode (worked fine in 7.24). To MOTU's credit I had a tech guy try to help me for a week .... he really did his best and I appreciated his efforts. At the end he had me log in as another user on my Mac. When I did that I'd get a blank BPM screen but no crash. Still no dice. I did reinstall several times. He suggested upgrading but I passed as there was no guarantee that it would work on my Mac Pro. Additionally I had no use for all the new drum machine sounds in 1.5 as I have those in other libraries. Sorry that I bought the BPM software as it's useless now.

See my reply in the BPM thread.

We do not know enough about your system to answer your question. Neither are we tech support.

My guess is that you have not asked your real question which is if your version of BPM is compatible with DP 8.

You certainly do complain a lot.

Mistake Number 1.

I know it's too late for you, and I feel your pain, but I'd like to take this opportunity to remind folks 'tis better to CLONE than MOAN... i.e. before upgrading DP (or anything else major on your computer) CLONE your perfectly functioning startup/system/application drive so you can revert to it if challenges are encountered.

When I update, especially when mid-project (actually I don't update mid-project, but that's just me), I save my working start up/system/application drive in its pristine condition by cloning to another drive/partition, then upgrading the clone.

By maintaining streamlined startup drives that don't house data, my startup drives are kept small and clone very quickly, especially if using SSDs. The few minutes one spends cloning before upgrading can save hours and days of frustration and lost productivity, not to mention $$$.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled program.

Excellent advice!
Cloning is essential.

In the case of the DP8 update, though, I think there should be a warning label.

Warning.... If you are using DP7.24, updating to DP8 may seriously change your DP7 functionality.
The changes are not undoable unless you revert to a clone of your startup/system drive.

Just a good warning for those who are not cloners.
All is well

Hello!

I'd like to add that most of the people who are having trouble with BPM are using version 1.05, which was released over two years before DP8's release. There are no known compatibility issues between the current version of BPM (1.5.2) and DP8.

Cheers,
MOTU Tech Support

Please advise all technical inquires should be submitted directly to MOTU's support channels (phone and online support).
