Jim

Tape "simulation" is just not the same as the real thing - I've tried most of them - they don't even come close.

Most them incorporate a NAB tape Characteristic (encode/decode) to simulate the electronics of a tape machine - But it is the tape itself has the "sound".

I'll take a look at this one though.

I'm not expert on the subject, but I've found the tape emulation in iZotope Ozone 3 to work pretty well if it's the meatier, thicker-bodied sound you're going for. It works well for "phattening" a track. I'll use it in sparing conjunction with PSP VintageWarmer.

I like the results, by and large. Test-drive it and see if you do too:

Agreed.

Now I'm gonna have to steal a Studer; come visit me in jail.
••••.... you can pick them up on the curbside with the trash pickup. i know a guy who cant sell his 2"/16/24 [has multiple machines for sale] and i cant talk a band into using the studer studio here either. tape is dead....

i still dont think you can "simulate" it in digital.... the hedd doesnt do it and neither does the fatsoJR... i was REALLY disappointed in the fatsoJR. closest way i have found to "slowing" the sound down is using ribbons.
dual gHz, OSX 10.3.9, DP 4.6, PSP plugs [then a load of nice hardware]

This is why MANY engineers still do main tracks to tape when cutting in a multi-player band situation. Then comes the transfer to their DAW of choice.
