UAD-1 and Plugin Delay Compensation with DP 4.6

Post by papisax »

Dear Unicornation,

I bought a UAD-1 card with the Ultra bundle. I inserted 2 UA plug-ins in one channels and sent an bus to an Aux that had Dream Verb. Upon playback, I noticed every one and while a delay on that particular track.

I know that DP 4.52 and DP 4.6 have plug-in delay compensation. I also have plugin delay compensation set in DP 4.6 and 4.52. I placed my PCI 424 after the graphics card and then placed the UAD card in the 3 PCI slot.

I am running OSX 10.4.2, duall 1.24 GHz mirrored powermac with 2 Gbs of RAM and 120 GB hard drive. Is there an issue with UAD plugins and DP? Does plugin delay compensation exist in AUX track in DP? Does anyone have any suggestions.

Your attention to my question is greatly appreciated.

FWIW...

I'm running a UAD-1 on a dual 2 G5 with DP 4.6 and it's working fine for me. Delay compensation works in this configuration, both as insert and aux buss. If you're inserting the UAD-1 in the midst of playback, however, you will hear a delay. Best to stop playback, insert the plug, then press play (should you not know).

Make sure you have the latest UAD-1 version. I believe it's 4.0. Check their site for verification.

Yes, this is simply a result of not stopping playback... You can insert the plug while playback but the track will then be delayed. All you have to do is stop playback for a quick second and hit play again... everythin is then in perfect alignment.

Good Luck

although lately ive had to occasionally toggle delay comp off then on again for it to "catch." not sure why! it happened after i upgraded my UAD's to 3.9. i havent gone to 4.0 yet.

ive also had some weirdness with delay comp not working on aux tracks that have uad's on em. like track A and B, each with UAD's on em, both bussed to a pair of subs, one doing compression the other without. by the time all the bussing is done delay comp is all messed up and the 2 aux's arent in sync.
