I have 15' powerbook with 1.5 Gig Ram. IF the computer has been on for a couple of days wich i generally do avoid the amount of real memory taken up is usually about one gig. WHen I restart it usually goes back down to 250 MB. If i am recording audio and using kontakt and reason is it better to do a restart before i start the project or is "virtual memory just as good as real memory. ANy thoughts ...also how long do you keep your computers running for i usually try to keep notebooks off at least once a day!!!

Re: VIRTUAL VS REAL MEMORY!!!!????
It is always good to restart, especially before sitting down for a power session. Sounds like some software is causing a memory leak. Maybe Java or a Widget. Using Tiger? Quit any unneeded processes too.roccoc wrote:I have 15' powerbook with 1.5 Gig Ram. Re: more about RAM
Don't bother with downgrading the display. On your machine, the GPU handles the burden there not the CPU.roccoc wrote:I have disabled the dashboard and I always quit all other applications i even have my display set to hundereds of colors ratehr than thousands any insight?
A restart before a session is always a good idea no matter what the system config is.
