8.03 memorymeter

Post by stainless »

maybe I never noticed before, but I uploaded/installed 8.03, repaired permissions. Everything seems to work fine (although I have had 1 crashes... I think I was maybe changing plugs on the playback... :banghead:

I notice the memory meter in DP now shows 75 = 80% memory usage, yet when I look at the usage in the Mac, it has yet to go above 2.5 GB (I have 16)

I'm thinking I should ignore this as it never seems to change (new session, no tracks, large session, lots of track, plug-ins...)... reminds me of the live mic schtick "is this thing on?!?"

I did see James mention trashing the analysis folder in the session- should this be a regular practice? how would if affect the session?

thanks

If you see a memory meter, then you're running DP in 32-bit mode, right? In that case, the memory meter is inaccurate. It's been discussed elsewhere on the forum, but as I understand it, you should ignore the meter.

jBridge is working great as a 32to 64bit plugin bridge if you wanna switch to 64 bit.

Radiogal

I seem at a loss where/how to get the path for JBridge into said scanning folder

JBridge scanned and seemed to find every VST I have (including demos which reminds me I need to clean those out)

DP isn't seeing any more VST's now than before I installed JBridge

the 32 bit plugs I like are the IK CSR suite and Drumagog (which I use mainly as a trigger with the click)

You need to activate them in the Preferences/ Audio plugins window as your primary plugin setting probably is AU.
You need to activate and select the bridged 32 bit VSTs one by one.

The meter is for how much memory "DP" has left for itself. Not how much the mac has left.
And the limit seems to be 3 GB not 4.

I had to move the bridged plugins from the user library/audio/plugins folder to the system library/audio/plugins folder. I created a new folder in the vst folder for bridged plugins and dropped them there. After booting DP open preferences select plug ins and scroll to vst and make sure to select the newly bridged plugins. They should now be available to use.

Hope this helps,
